He

He seldom falls ill. Rarely got a fever. Cough? Almost never. Can’t even remember the last time he sees a doctor. Yes, that is how he led his life. He will turn to salt water – tamarind juice – lime juice – water from burnt rice – barley – flour, whenever he feels uncomfortable. He will quarantine himself – everybody is forbid to be near him. I don’t think he has ever submitted a medical certificate during his working days.

That was before. Time flies. I got news. He is sick – really sick. As usual he refuses to see a doctor. I respect his wishes. He got every right. No, he is not a stubborn old man. He got his views about doctors. All we could do is try to persuade him – so far the reply we got is just – NOT YET.

I saw him today, he is just too weak. I lost my words. Tears are at the corner of my eyes. Some of us tried as much to help him ease the pain. Whether he likes it or not. Some of us just do not know what to do – though we love him the same. All of us want the same thing for him – but it is very difficult to each and every one of us since we do not know what’s wrong and not knowing whether he likes us there.

Love can be shown in odd ways – one of it is to respect his wishes – even to let him be alone.
