Dress-cist?
Few days ago I went to the office by car instead of our usual transport ie the bike. I took the chance to melaram a bit with my silk kebaya (siap bersulam lagi tu..), with tudung lilit2. Sekali pandang ada gaya mak datin, dua kali pandang MAK DATUK over nya.. bukan apa, baju tu pun dah hampir merajuk sebab lama sangat tak dipakai.
In the afternoon, I went to Ampang Park to do some banking, and there was this Auto fair, cars like Hyundai. Perodua, Naza, Wald (mostly Toyota model & 1 Honda model), Mini etc. I was hanging around the Wald's cars, when I was approached by one of the sales person. He gave me the brochure for Wald(the six seater Honda), and eagerly promoting the car to me. I have a glance at the price, RM178K++ mahalnya. What makes he think that I can afford the car? Is it because the way I dressed? That brings me to a scene about two years back.
That was when we planned to buy a new car. The car that we are eyeing for is considered slightly above average in term of the cost. One fine afternoon my hubby and I went to the showroom somewhere in Kampung Baru, with our bike. Tell you, my office attire is casual. Hubby too. Sometimes I can be too casual or should I say selekeh, sometimes I can look like makcik2 :) . That day was one of the selekeh day, I suppose.
When we reached the showroom, there are few people there as well. Maklum le, kereta baru launch, ramai la orang yang datang tengok. Mostly datang in office attire, semua smart2 gitu. Kira kita ni paling selekeh, jinjing helmet usang lak tu. We approached one of the sales person yang tengah hold a brochure.
Encik, boleh kami nak satu brochure?
Brochure dah habis, ini untuk tengok saja, he replied acuh tak acuh, without even offering the brochure for us to browse through.
Macam mana minyak consumption ni?
Banyak encik, (I feel ala ala cerita pretty woman, bila si Julia Roberts tanya, how much is the dress, the sales lady jawab, expensive)
Then kitorang pergi kat kereta looking at the rear car seat. Meantime si jurujual was seen talking to 2 well dressed gentlemen.
Puan ketepi sedikit, saya nak turn seat depan ni. He was asking me to move aside since he wanted to demonstrate to the the 2 gentlemen on the seat's feature. If I was there first, shouldn't he allow me to finish my 'little tour'? I was offended by then.
Jom la bang, kita pegi showroom lain.
At the same instant, another sales person show up and talk to my hubby.
Abang dengan kakak plan, nak beli kereta? Ni memang bagus for family ni bang. Bayar booking fee RM500, lepas tu bla.. bla.. bla.., oh by the way bang, kalau jadi, contact saya ye, Shuib. Now, that's a sales person. As a sales person, you are suppose to sell the product not drive the customer away.
On our second visit, we brought the deposit. This time well dressed. We were greeted by the 'dress-cist' (as to racist, feminist etc). And I was right, this time his treatment is different. He willingly explained about the car, gives us a brochure. Too bad, we are not giving the sales to him, we insisted for Shuib.
