Good Samaritan
Last week, the day Imran undergo his surgery, my parents gave us a visit. It was quiet late and on their way back to Seremban from my brother's house. They stop by to see Imran. I offered them to stay the nite, but my father insisted to go back. Abah is a stern person. If he say white, white it will be. If he hadn't plan to stay the nite, you need a miracle to change his decision. Right after dinner and some chit chatting, he is ready to go back.
At 69, Abah still drives, though after recent sickness he is not as strong as before. AT gave him the short cut way through Balakong to get to Seremban highway. He needs to be told the way precisely otherwise he can get lost easily. Off he go.
About 10minutes later, Abah called.
Keta tepadek.
AT who answer the call looks confused. Hah? Oooo.. tayar lekat. Kat mana?
Dokek pasaraya tu..
It was 11:30pm, AT, Along and I went to look for abah.
We found them. There's a young Malay couple who have stop to help.
The car was stuck at the road divider. There was flood about 3 inches above ankle along a 50meter stretch and apparently when abah try to drive through the flood the car in front of him went dead. He do not have any other choice other than going up the road divider. He he hadn't do that, there will be a chance that his car will soon be dead too. Once dead, water will go into the engine and the rest will be history.
We can't push the car forward nor backward. Tried and tried. Apparently the car can't move because one of the front tyre was hanging. Then a chineese guy holding a walkie talkie stop. Oh! This is one of lori tarik gang, I suppose. Anyway he was nice. He told us the reason why the car can't move and suggested to us how to do it. 5 of us, me-AT-mak-Chineese guy-the Malay guy lifted and pushed the car as suggested. It moved!
Right after the car driven to safety, the strangers, the good samaritans make the way to their car. AT was seen thanking the Chineese guy, while I was running towards the Malay lady. Err.. Cik! Cik! She looked. Terima kasih sebab tolong mak saya, yaddaaa, yaddaaa, yaddaaa.. We have a short chat. Then the couple left. Yaiks! I even forgot to ask her name. We could be friends!
One of the tyre flattened and while changing the tyre, the peronda silk stopped. They just stand and look while abah and AT change the tyre. We then stopped at one of the petrol kiosk and did a little cleaning before we guide Abah right to Serdang and take our separate ways.
It was almost 1am and I realized I was soaked up to my waist. And stink too.
Well to those good samaritan, I can't thank you enough. Sometimes people are paid to help but yet they do not deliver. Some people will help based on humanitary grounds. You'll get paid as well. Mark my word. You will.
